The event promoter, Joe Manyathi, plans are to tie the boxing event to the Women’s Month of Celebration, and Laila Ali will fit into that category of women’s celebration.
This event is also designed to showcase South Africa and show the world that South Africa has made major progress since the Apartheid era, and exhibit the beauty that this country posses.
Women’s Boxing Champion Laila Ali will be launching hernext championship fight in Cape Town, South Africa, to defend her World Boxing Council Championship, on
August 5 ,2006.
The event will celebrate Women’s Month, which will culminate in 50 years of women’s empowerment in the country.
Laila Ali's will be fighting in front of Dr Nelson Mandela and all other Dignitaries of South Africa.

" IN HONOR OF A FIGHTER” is a series of events including a musical concerts, a gala dinner and champagne brunch and world title championship boxing match featuring Laila Ali and Gwendollyn O’Neil.
